Expecting a Christmas song? Me too. That was where I was headed when Hi Ho the Cherry-O popped into my head. I already have an idea for next week. Need to get working on it. It is a little more ambitious.
Hopefully the prospect of 11 days did not send you into a tizzy. I think I am pretty much ready. I just have two presents to get. I finished stocking stuffers yesterday. I need to get a gift certificate for my daughter’s bus driver and one last thing for my hubby. I cannot tell you what it is in case he reads this. My Mom and I got to experience the American Girl Store this week. She had never been. It was my second time so I knew what to expect. We were there on a Tuesday morning and it was packed! Holy Cow! People were buying a ton of stuff. It amazes me how popular they are and how expensive. Quite honestly my daughter got a doll from Target and one from American Girl and I cannot tell the difference in quality. They look exactly the same. You have to wonder why the price is so high. I guess it is the “experience”. She will be getting clothes from Target for the doll. Need to save some money somewhere.
We had our Christmas Party last week. So happy it is over. I love it but once it is done all the pressure is off me! I will be sharing some appetizer recipes over the next few months. I shared one yesterday. I like to call it Duo of Potato Pancakes. It is a potato pancake made of both sweet and white potato. I topped it with non-fat Greek Yogurt and Smoked Salmon and Smoked Trout. You could use sour cream or even caviar and prosciutto. Yummy!
My Daughter, my sous chef, made Spoon Herb Rolls, a quick, easy homemade roll filled with herbs. They are a great accompaniment to soup. I also shared a quick side, Honey Roasted Acorn Squash. Two minutes to prep then let the oven do all the work.
Next week, look for a recipe for Chocolate Gingerbread Tea Cakes. My daughter has been inhaling these! I was so surprised she liked them with the robust ginger flavor. I am still trying to decide what the other two recipes will be. It might be a Ham and Cheese Souffle, another cookie recipe or an appetizer, Caesar Salad Tacos (the taco shell is not a tortilla). What do you want to see next week? I still have a restaurant review to post at some point too. I have been a little lax about reviews. We haven’t been eating out as much lately.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I’ll see you bright and early on Monday.
