Spanish Salad with Ham and Olives with Sherry Vinaigrette is a favorite salad of mine. It is a copy cat of the 1905 salad at the Columbia restaurant.
Let’s take a trip to Spain with this Spanish Salad with Ham and Olives. Pour yourself a glass of sangria, put on some flamenco music and dream of going to a tapas bar in Barcelona. This salad will make you feel like you are there. It is loaded with healthy vegetables, interspersed with ham, Romano cheese and green olives all lovingly tossed with a Spanish vinaigrette.
Some food brings back great memories and this salad does for me. Spanish Salad with Ham and Olives is inspired by the 1905 Salad from the Columbia Restaurant. I have unbelievably great memories of delicious food, good times, family and friends. We always went to the Columbia Restaurant in Celebration, Florida. Celebration is actually a Disney World Town. It has a cute little downtown area that had lots of family friendly festivals. My favorite was always the Christmas Snow Festival. Our daughter would love to go see the fake “snow”. I would love to stop and have a glass of sangria and their 1905 salad. It was the perfect little festival for a 2-year-old.
We don’t live in Florida anymore but we still make this salad. I adapted it to make it a little more healthy and lower calorie. It still has all the great flavor I remember. This can be a dinner salad or a side salad. It is also fantastic for a dinner party. Guests always love it! It really will remind you of the flavors of Spain. You can visit Spain and never leave your house.
