Elevate the sweet potato with just a few cuts of a knife. Sage Hasselback Sweet Potatoes are the perfect vegetarian side.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Oh yes, it is. I can feel a little excitement in the air. People start to be a little nicer and kinder to each other. We are probably all feeling like we are running around with our heads cut off trying to get everything done but a little Christmas music can soothe the savage beast. I actually refuse to listen to Christmas music until Thanksgiving but I am ready to hear all those old standards again.
Can we just talk about Christmas movies for a few seconds? My daughter is finally at the age where she is starting to get into Christmas movies. She was always scared of movies until she was about 6 1/2 years old. She finds my favorites “White Christmas” and “Holiday Inn” a little strange. “Where is the color Mommy?” (in the case of Holiday Inn). “They are wearing strange clothes.” “Why do they sing so much?”. I feel myself growing older with each question. These movies were before my time but to her they are totally foreign. We have already watched “Home Alone” and she actually liked it, first time ever.
One of the things I love about Thanksgiving is learning about other family food traditions. You can really tell someone’s roots by the “stuffing” and what goes in it. For me stuffing has to have sage. So when I thought about spices for the Sage Hasselback Sweet Potatoes, sage was the first thought in my mind. It was the perfect choice. These are highly addictive and will be perfect on your Thanksgiving table. They look gorgeous but are really very simple to make. It is just a few cuts in the potato that make them look like a fan. It is a great dish for Thanksgiving. What are your family favorites for Thanksgiving.
