Do you find you make a recipe over and over again?  Then all of a sudden you don’t make it for years. I find that a lot. I get into a recipe then find some other recipe catches my attention. The next thing I know it has been years since I made that first recipe. That is what happened with this recipe. There was a time probably about 8 to 9 years ago that we made Asparagus with Yogurt Wasabi Dip for every party. When asparagus came into season this year, I remembered it. I decided to give it an update and make it more healthy.

The original recipe from Epicurious has you blanch the asparagus. I’m just not into that. After you blanch it, you have to run it under cold water. I can just see all the flavor of the asparagus running down the sink not to mention it is more work. I like, no, I love to roast vegetables. Roasting super-charges the flavor and sweetness of a vegetable. Plus it is so easy. Bang the pan into the oven and a few minutes later, you are done. That makes so much more sense to me.

You can make the dip has spicy as you would like. I made mine a mild to medium spice. Hubby wanted more spice, little one thought it was a little spicy and I though it could use a tad more spice. You can make it your own by adding more wasabi paste to it. If you don’t have wasabi paste, you can use wasabi powder. One of my favorite things about this recipe is that the asparagus is as much a star as the dip.

So many times, the vegetable or cracker is simply a vehicle to get the dip into your mouth. With this one, you will be as happy to eat the asparagus as much as the dip. Let’s face it, unless you are going to double or triple dip, or soak the asparagus in the dip, you are going to be eating some of the asparagus stalk without any dip on it.

Roasted Asparagus with Yogurt Wasabi Dip will fit nicely with whatever Easter plans you have.  It doesn’t matter if it is  brunch or dinner.  Either way, this healthy appetizer will bring a taste of Spring to your table.  It is one of those bonus vegetable dishes that I love.  You serve this asparagus as an appetizer and still have a vegetable with the meal.  People end up eating more vegetables.  That is something we all need to do anyway.  Eat your veggies, people.  It’s all about healthy living one bite at a time.

Roasted Asparagus with Yogurt Wasabi Dip

  • 3 lbs . asparagus , trimmed
  • 1 tsp . oil
  • 1/2 tsp . kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp . fresh ground black pepper
  • ½ cup 2% fat Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp . low fat mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp . soy sauce
  • 1 tsp . honey
  • 1 tbsp . fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp . wasabi paste
  • Pinch of salt


  1. Preheat oven to 425°.
  2. Place asparagus on a baking sheet. Drizzle oil, salt and pepper on. Toss to coat all asparagus.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl mix together remaining ingredients.
  5. Serve with roasted asparagus.
