This year I have made a conscious effort to cut back on our sugar consumption in accordance with The American Heart Association recommendations. I started with my coffee in the morning and carried on to dessert. It did not take long until normal desserts tasted too sweet. I also try to use fresh ingredients and limit the processed ingredients. Using fresh ingredients is a great way to cut down on your sugar. It is amazing how much sugar is in processed food. Another way is to use SPLENDA® Sweeteners products. Here are some recipe ideas for sweet swaps.
Swap sugar-sweetened beverages for plain water or sparkling water. I made my low sugar ginger ale using SPLENDA® Sugar Blend.
When baking and cooking, try swapping unsweetened applesauce or SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend for sugar. You may need to adjust the amount of oil too. Experiment with your favorite cooking and baking recipes.
Instead of indulging in sugar-based desserts, enjoy a piece of naturally sweet fruit. On days you want a little more indulgence, try baking a cake with SPLENDA® Sugar Blend.
