A little sweet and a little spicy

Sausage Rolls are a staple in our house for parties. Let’s face it; they are easy peasy.  You can make it with two ingredients, two!  I love to have this kind of recipe in my back pocket.  Everyone loves it and I can make it in 5 minutes which leaves me time to make more time-consuming dishes.  Since chicken and turkey sausages have gotten so delicious and with so many different flavors, I didn’t feel the need to dress these up.  Just use your favorite or experiment with all the delicious flavors out there.

I thought about making a really cool sauce to go with these but they don’t need it.  I would have been making it just to make it.  Why make a delicious and easy recipe hard.  This is a rare recipe that I think is perfect simply with puff pastry and great chicken sausage.  If you are thinking puff pastry isn’t exactly slimming, you would be right.  So I stretched it.  Roll it out.  You don’t need a huge amount of puff pastry to enjoy its luscious, buttery flavor.

Dip Away

When thinking of food for Superbowl Appetizer Week, I thought man food.  Sausage screams man food to me.  It’s hearty and seems manly.  He can pop one in his mouth in between screaming at the TV.  Fumbles, bad calls, interceptions, off sides are all prone to provoke tirades at the TV.  Even if it’s not their team playing, they all get so involved.  My husband almost never watches football but he watches the Superbowl like a rabid fan.  He’s yelling at the TV, telling the refs how to do their job.

For me it’s all about the food and commercials.  Superbowl means appetizers and finger food for us.  You all know how much I love my bite sized food.  There will be no froo froo plating of food or cute food styling.  Man food means man plating.  Throw it on a plate and stand back before your hand is chewed off by the hungry masses.  You know they are going to pop food into their mouth without even looking at it.  They can’t take their eyes off the TV.  Grab your ingredients, one, two, hike!

I love teriyaki meatballs done in the crockpot! along with coctail dogs wrapped in a blanket baked with a bit of honey mustard and cheese inside the dough. Sooooooo good!
  12. We have a family recipe called "Seafood Pizza" that is actually a dip! The base is cream cheese and other seasonings spread on a plate, topped with a layer of cocktail sauce to look like tomato sauce and baby shrimp and crab meat for "cheese."
  13. I don't usually do appetizers. We just go straight into the main dish, but I'd love to try these. They look yummy!
  14. I like to make crab puffs. The nice thing about making them is I can make them ahead of time and freeze., When it's party time, I have the options of either frying them up or putting them in the oven. A little trick I use is to give them a quick spray of oil before putting them in the oven. It makes them brown beautifully.:)
  15. My sister-in-law loves cheesy sausage! A must try
  16. Jody Arbogast says

I have a pretty great avocado salsa that I make but only for a small crowd because it can brown quickly.
