Healthy Cinnamon Roll Slow Cooker Steel Cut Oats here!
Are you a “Morning” person or a “Good Morning” person? You know, do you wake up full of vigor and vim wishing everyone a “Good Morning”? Or are you like me, struggling to say “Morning” out before you have had your cup of coffee? I know I have told you all about staring aimlessly in the refrigerator looking for something for breakfast, staring so long I forget what I was doing in the first place. I have got to have a plan for breakfast. That is where this healthy breakfast recipe is so handy, like this Cinnamon Roll Overnight Slow Cooker Steel Cut Oats recipe.
Cinnamon Roll Overnight Slow Cooker Steel Cut Oats is simple to put together the night before. It cooks through the night and is ready first thing in the morning. I can smell the delicious cinnamon aroma wafting through the air, reminding me to eat breakfast. Luckily my nose is always ready to follow the delectable aroma of food. It wakes up my taste buds and starts my stomach growling.
Since I prefer the texture to my oatmeal, steel cut oats are they way to go. They still have a little chew to them rather than old fashioned oats that seem to get gummy. This is stick to your ribs food to fuel your body all the way to lunch, and I need a breakfast that will get my “get up and go” to get up and go, not reach for another cup of coffee instead. Hence the need for a simple recipe with few ingredients. Also, Cinnamon Roll Steel Cut Oats are versatile. While there is no added sweetener, feel free to add a little sweetener to your own bowl.
Another important factor in my breakfast is protein, so I added a little sweetened Greek yogurt. It reminded me of icing on a cinnamon roll. How cool is that? The maple syrup I add to the Greek yogurt is just enough to sweeten my oats without making them too sweet. To add a spark of freshness to this slow cooker breakfast, fresh strawberries bring a zing of color and flavor to round out this healthy, low calorie breakfast. Feel free to change the fruit to your liking. Go wild with blueberries, apples or kiwi. Whatever fruit floats your boat is fine with me.
