Join our weekly challenge to get healthy. The Healthy Challenge #2 – Pump It Up.
Join us for the Healthy Challenge. What is it? Small weekly challenges to build a healthy lifestyle. It is perfect for everyone and anyone. The very first step is to get a physical then you can jump in with Week #1 here. If you have completed week #1, Congratulations! I am so proud of you. I hope you are proud of yourself. The first step was to start to get to know food and calorie counts. Once you get into journaling what you eat, it gets so much easier. So now the next step, exercise. Is that a dreaded word for you or something you love?
I am some where in the middle. I have continued to go to the gym twice a week and do weights. I adore weights and weight training, but I hate cardio. So this week is to pump up your activity. Hopefully you did get a physical and know what your body can and cannot do. This week is about getting off the couch and get moving a little more. Remember, we are doing baby steps. So if you do not exercise at all, I don’t want you trying to jog a 5K or do an aerobics class. Start small. Find 10 minutes twice a week to walk in place, do some squats, walk around the block, climb a flight of stairs. Do something.
I lift weights twice a week and need to add some type of cardiovascular exercise. Last year I went right back to a spin class after a few months off. What a big mistake! I pulled my achilles and could not exercise for months. I am not doing that again. I am taking small steps. So I am going to add 10 minutes on the elliptical after my weight training. I am already at the gym so I have no excuse.
If you already work out a few times a week, try adding 10 minutes of exercise to another day. My ultimate goal is to get back to a spin class twice a week plus the weight training. Baby steps though.
Are you in? We are looking for a total of 20 minutes of exercise this week. You can do it! I can do it. We can do it together. I know it may sound like a very small step, but this is about the long haul. So be proud of yourself for sticking out week one. Be proud of each baby step. I want this to be easy so we stick to it!
