What is the perfect gift to welcome a new neighbor? Why Banana Bread, of course. I saw a recipe for Banana Split Bread on one of my favorite blogs, Heather’s French Press. I love Heather’s recipes. They are such fun and through the blogging community, I feel like I have gotten to know her even though we have never met. I was drooling over her Banana Split Bread with Chocolate Ganache and looking for an opportunity to splurge on it. When I looked carefully at the recipe, I realized this did not have to be a splurge recipe. It was pretty healthy and I could easily lower the calories a touch more.
Banana Bread also sounded like the perfect welcoming gift for two new neighbors. How could anyone resist a deliciously, moist bread filled with bananas, fresh strawberries and chocolate? Just look at those ooey, gooey morsels of chocolate goodness in the slice above. Your mouth has got to be watering. Then as you continue to eat a slice, pops of strawberry explode on your mouth. It is quite the eating sensation and sure to tickle your taste buds.
I made two loaves to take to two new neighbors and omitted the nuts as I wasn’t sure of any nut allergies. My daughter was drooling over the prospect of eating a slice and to her dismay we walked the loaves to each of our new neighbor’s houses. When we got home she asked if I really didn’t leave a slice for her. She was still hoping for a piece. So a couple of weeks later I made banana bread for us and to photograph for you all. Oh happy days! I have to admit I was dreaming of a slice ever since I smelled the first loaves baking. My first bite and I was not disappointed. This banana bread is lovely. It satisfies any sweets craving with very little sugar in the recipe. Now I cannot wait to make it again.
