Even dessert can be grilled. Try Grilled Pineapple and Angel Food Cake with Fresh Raspberry Sauce.
Since we are going to have the grill on for Father’s Day, we might as well grill dessert too. My Grilled Angel Food Cake and Pineapple with a fresh Raspberry Sauce is the perfect way to end the Father’s Day Celebration. It is a light dessert that won’t weigh you down. It is also easy with a little help from a pre-made angel food cake. My grocery store has a fantastic bakery so I might as well take advantage of it.
I don’t think I have mentioned my Dad a lot in my blog yet. When I was growing up he was the cook of the family. He had learned to cook at a very young age and worked in restaurants before joining the Air Force so he could support his family. He loved to make food from all over the world and passed on his love of cooking to me. We always had great dinners. He still loves to cook and shares my addiction to cookbooks. We always have cookbooks on our Christmas wish list. My daughter has her Pops wrapped around her little finger. All she has to do is say “Pops” and he is at her command. She likes to help him cook. Mostly she loves to play with him and be carried around by him.
Father’s Day is fun because I get to be creative in the menu. My hubby and Dad have very similar taste in food and love to try new flavor combinations. We usually get together for an early dinner and dessert. My little one will “help” them open their presents. Actually she will do all the opening and then show them what they got. We eat early so we have time for dessert. We have our priorities right!
What is your plan for Father’s Day? Does her hubby or Dad love to grill or sit back and relax while you do all the cooking?
