There really should be a song about brownies. These delicious chocolatey nibbles of pleasure deserve their own song. I like mine really moist, maybe even a tad under done. Just thinking about brownies makes my toes tingle. My little one and I whipped up these Dark Chocolate Banana Brownies from a Pillsbury™ brownie mix I picked up at Walmart. I surprised her one day after school. She came in the door sniffing the air. What? Don’t your kids come in sniffing the air to see what aromas are wafting around? Mine knows I am usually cooking up something. She asked what smelled good and I told her brownies. Her mouth dropped open and her eyes twinkled. Brownies, yippy.
She was thrilled about the prospect of eating brownies but did a happy dance when I told her I needed her help with them. I wanted to use cute little Easter cookie cutters to make shapes with our brownies for Easter. We found rabbit cutters, a cute carrot shaped one, and a baby chick. She was even more thrilled when I told her to use her imagination and go for it. She cut out a rabbit shape first. Then a carrot shaped brownie for the rabbit to eat. She went on to the chick and more rabbits. Boy did they multiply quickly. Then she played with putting them on a plate and making a skit like they were puppets. Her hands were covered with chocolate and so was her mouth as a few of her “brownie animals” ended up being eaten. Such a cute moment to remember. Mix up a moment with your family. Thanks to Walmart we had an inexpensive afternoon of fun.
They are also perfect for a cookout. Keep a box in your pantry and you are ready to bring along a dish whenever you are invited to a cookout or potluck. These are going to be my go-to recipe for potlucks and parties. In fact I will bring them to my daughter’s end of school party which is next month. Can you believe it, next month? They are so quick and easy and May is a crazy month for us. For the last month of Spring, I have to have a spring in my step to get it all done. These will be a fantastic time saver for you too. You can save even more with ibotta. Be sure to discover more ways to #MixUpAMoment with you family on Pinterest.
