Crunchy pretzels drizzled with dark chocolate, white chocolate and caramel make an after school snack special.
A few years ago, I was shopping in World Market for some stocking stuffers. I happened to see a small bag of Funky Chunky chocolate covered pretzels. I adore chocolate covered pretzels so I bought a Christmas present for myself. The bag didn’t even make it home. I ate the bag (it was small) on the way home. Holy cow they were good! They were covered in milk chocolate, white chocolate and caramel. It’s one of those moments you feel the clouds part and the angels sing.
Knowing myself and that this was a food I could not keep in the house, I waited until next Christmas to buy another little bag when I went to World Market for stocking stuffers. (I always go to World Market for stocking stuffers. They have a great selection of small little goodies) I picked up another bag or so I thought. I opened the bag in the car to enjoy on my way home only to discover I had picked up Funky Chunky Popcorn not pretzels. No, no, no! I don’t like sweet popcorn. I only want chocolate on my pretzels. I could have cried.
This year I decided to take no chances. The best way to get my chocolate covered pretzels was to make my own. I could also make them a little healthier with dark chocolate. It was a tickle my toes moment. They are so good. The are “shut the front door”, “drop to your knees” good. Plus they are so much fun to make. I felt like the greatest artist ever swirling the chocolate over the pretzels. It didn’t matter how I did it, the dark and white chocolate still looked beautiful. I loved adding a little dollop of caramel here and there. They came out so well and took about 5 minutes.
Chocolate Caramel Pretzels would make a wonderful gift for friends and neighbors too. One look at these and it’s snack time. I think I should print out some pretty labels and bag these myself. I don’t have to worry about accidentally getting popcorn instead of the pretzels I so crave. I think I’ll put a little bag in my own stocking. Merry Christmas to me and all my fellow chocolate covered pretzel lovers.
