These are divine! Baked Tiramisu Donuts Low Calorie, Low Fat Breakfast Recipe
I’ve been on a tiramisu kick lately, ever since I made No Bake Tiramisu Balls. They were such a huge hit with my family, that I’ve been craving tiramisu ever since. I could just make tiramisu, but I decided to try donuts instead. I’ve been having a donut craving too. So mash the two together, and you end up with Baked Tiramisu Donuts. I also decided to go with an easy and quick recipe. That means a boxed cake mix. You all know I don’t use a lot of processed food, but I know not everyone has the time to make everything from scratch. So this recipe is for all of you who love to bake but don’t have the time to bake from scratch. It is hard to balance the roller coaster of life and take a break to bake.

I wasn’t sure about using a chocolate cake mix. I love chocolate and I love coffee, but I hate mocha. The point was also for these to taste like tiramisu. The best tiramisu has chocolate shaved on top. I could have gone with a white cake mix, but well I didn’t. Luckily, these little gems taste like tiramisu and not mocha. I think it might be the coffee liquor. I love a mudslide too and that has coffee liquor and chocolate sauce. So I guess I do like chocolate and coffee together, if it has alcohol in it! That has got to be it! It is the liquor that makes it so tasty. Don’t worry. These are not loaded in alcohol. A little goes a long way, so I still consider these child friendly.

These are so good, you may want to keep them all for yourself. My little one, who adores tiramisu, devoured them. She had no idea there was cottage cheese in them. Oh yes, you read that correctly. I am by no means telling you these are healthy, but I did add a little nutrition to them with the cottage cheese. You won’t taste it, but it helps take the place of mascarpone cheese in tiramisu. Don’t let it scare you. I don’t like cottage cheese, but I could eat every single one of these.

Get up! It is time to make the doughnuts! (or donuts)

    • Christie Daruwalla says
Hi Tiffany, I haven't tested this recipe with anything else so I cannot give you a specific recipe. I have a recipe for Orange Chocolate Donuts that is from scratch. http://fooddonelight.com/orange-chocolate-chip-donuts/ You could try to use the batter from that. I don't know if it would work exactly though.
