16 days until Christmas! Are you panicking or have you been done shopping for a while now? I am usually done by now but I have been procrastinating. I have a few more gifts to get. If you need some ideas for the cook in your life, here are a few of my favorite small things.
Don’t let the name fool you. This is a multi-purpose spatula. I use it to turn anything delicate from fish to potato pancakes. I love that the spatula is long so I can pick up two to three cookies at a time.
Yes, it really works. I make my marinades right in a plastic bag that I have latched onto the holder. It works fantastic and I don’t have to wash a bowl. I have no issue with the bag slipping. It is only $4.99 on amazon. It also folds up for easy storage.
If you are trying to lose weight a food scale is indispensable. Weighing your food is really the only way to be sure of the calories you eat. If you love to bake then you must weigh your flour! Baking is an exact science and weighing your flour and sugar will really help your results. I also love that the display pulls out so I can put a large bowl on top, pull out the display and still read how much something weighs. This scale is expensive. I think I bought mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond when I had a 20% of coupon. I’ve had it for over 5 years. It is a good investment.
I am always adding lemon and lime juice to recipes. Citrus juice is a great way to add flavor without calories. I find I get so much more juice out of the lemon or lime when I use this squeezer. Since lemons and limes can get expensive this is a great investment under $10
I bought one of these a few years ago. I love that it is small but holds up a recipe card or a full piece of paper. I like that the recipe is upright and out-of-the-way. My Mom saw it and loved it so I bought one for her a couple of Christmas’ ago.
I use this almost everyday. Just as the juice of citrus fruit is indispensable so is the zest. I add zest to fish, chicken, desserts. Sometimes I will use it for garlic and I absolutely love this zester for ginger!
Pastry cutters are not just for biscuits or pastry. They also make great guacamole! I love that it doesn’t fully mash the avocado so you still have nice small pieces in your guacamole! I do use it to make biscuits too.
I am in love with this pepper mill. We have gone through a lot of https://fooddonelight.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=856&action=editpepper mills and this is my favorite. I love the little cup on the bottom that catches all the pepper so I can get an idea of how much I have. I love that I can take off the little cup and just grind the pepper onto the food. I love that it does not take forever to grind the pepper and the grinds are uniform in size!
My hubby bought me this non-stick baking spray from William Sonoma a few years ago. I won’t use anything else now. I never have a problem with my cakes sticking to the pan. It is a large can that lasts a long time. I never butter or flour a pan anymore.
I cannot tell you how many times I burnt myself on the oven racks before I bought these guards. Our ovens are built-in and rather high. As I am height deprived, I often have to stand on my tip-toes to get pans in and out. I put the guards on and no more burns. Money will spent!
You can find most of these things at Amazon but if you have Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons you might get a better deal. Walmart and Target will also carry most of these. Happy Shopping!
